Frequently Asked Questions

Do you test on animals?

This is a matter very close to our hearts here at nspa so fear not! You can rest easy and enjoy our lovely products knowing that they are cruelty free and absolutely not tested on animals. In fact, most of our products are vegan friendly too. Below is a statement from PETA which covers us as well.

“In 2003, the EU responded to the long-standing public campaign against cosmetics tested on animals by introducing a ban on animal testing for cosmetics and toiletries inside the EU – not just for finished products but, critically, for their individual ingredients, too. That ban was introduced in stages and became complete in 2009. As a result, no testing on animals for cosmetics now takes place anywhere in the EU."

There are no grey areas here as it is simply illegal to sell any product or raw material that has been tested on animals. We are 100% cruelty free.

Are your products vegan friendly?

Some of our products may not be suitable for vegans, this is because they contain animal derived ingredients such as Beeswax, Silk Protein or Lanolin. To find out which products are suitable for vegans you will see our Vegan Friendly logo in the product description. This logo will also appear on packaging from August 2017. For us, to declare a product vegan friendly, we have excluded—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for the development, formulation and creation of beauty products and made use of animal-free alternatives. Animal refers to the entire animal kingdom, that is all vertebrates and all multicellular invertebrates. Unless otherwise stated, it usually means non-human animals, as willing adult human volunteers test all our products to ensure efficacy and results.

Those ingredients not deemed vegan are still sourced in a 'cruelty free' way and include:

Lanolin: Lanolin is extracted from the wool of sheep. Without harming the sheep, its wool is shorn and later the lanolin is extracted. .

Milk Proteins: These are extracted from bovine (cow) milk. The cows are not harmed during the milking process.

Beeswax: This is created by the honey bee, formed in combs in the hive. The wax is extracted from the combs when the bees have left the hive and the bees are not harmed.

Honey: This is extracted from the comb of the honey bee without harm to the bees.

Silk Proteins: These are extracted from the empty cocoons of the silk moth. The silk moths have left the cocoon before any proteins are extracted.

Keratin: This is unfortunately only available from animal by-products, but not always from dead animal parts these can and do include:

Lapin skin

Bovine hoof

Ovine wool

Caprine wool

We actively use all the sources above

Collagen: Again this is another material that is only available from animal by-products, usually from dead animals and the sources can include:

Porcine skin

Bovine hide

We actively use both sources above
